Roof Pitch

The pitch of the roof is basically the amount of slope on your steel building’s roof. The roof pitch is expressed as the number of inches the roof rises vertically for every twelve inches it runs horizontally. Discount Steel Buildings exclusive DS Builder System™ online ordering capability, automatically supplies a 1:12 pitch for your building, our most popular pitch choice. This allows a maximum slope for your building of 1 inch vertical rise for every horizontal foot. The choice you make for your roof pitch is important, as it affects the overall size, the look, and the price of your building. Higher pitched roofs increase the total interior cubic footage versus lower pitched roofs. Higher pitched roofs drain rain and snow quicker, and may have less of a tendency to leak moisture into the building. A lesser pitched roof can cost less. It can also be easier to heat and cool. Higher pitched roofs, up to 6:12 pitch, are available through Discount Steel Buildings’ custom order page or by contacting a Discount Steel Buildings’ Customer Representative. The standard screw-down Galvalume® roof is our most popular style.
Standing Seam Roof

The standing seam roof system is an available option through Discount Steel Buildings. A standing seam steel roof provides economical protection, ease of installation, weather-tight performance, and energy efficiency. A standing seam roof system provided by Discount Steel Buildings is one of the most durable coverings you can provide for your building. The standing seam roof system is ideal for buildings in areas exposed to heavy rain or snow because of the factory supplied sealant which works with the standing ribs of the roof to prevent leakage. The raised standing seam steel roof ensures efficient moisture drainage and is especially effective on wide, low pitched roofs that previously could not drain even moderate precipitation and were apt to suffer from ponded water complications. A standing seam steel roof can provide maximum interior energy efficiency because of the thermal break between the roof surface and structural membrane.

A standing seam roof can reduce maintenance costs because the heavy gauge of steel used resists corrosion, blistering, and cracks. No patching is required that is common to other roof styles and a standing seam roof can provide 20 years or more of maintenance-free protection.

If you are concerned about your building having the added protection it deserves, consider the benefits of a standing seam roof from Discount Steel Buildings. Our unique roofs offer pre-engineered factory fabricated quality, reduced maintenance expenditures, weather-tightness, and energy cost reduction.
