Discount Steel Buildings Specifications

Main Frame

Discount Steel Buildings
rigid-frame steel buildings use solid I-Beams for maximum strength. Discount Steel Buildings uses only high-yield strength steel for all of our main frames. All main frames are single bead and continuous arc welded. A factory coat of primer is applied in order to protect the main frames during erection.

End Wall Frames-
Discount Steel Buildings end wall frames and columns may be hot-rolled, cold-formed, or built-up plate, depending on the design of your building.

Secondary Framing

Girts and Purlins-

These are included depending on your specific design requirements. Discount Steel Buildings offers either 8" or 10" girts and purlins. To provide maximum strength for our structure, we use a cold-rolled z-section and 13 to 16 gauge ASTM A-570, 55,000 p.s.i. yield material.

Purlins-

In order to provide maximum strength and to minimize erection costs, purlins are top-mounted on the rafter with a varied lap of 2' to 6'. The maximum purlin spacing available is 5' on center.

Eave Strut-

Discount Steel Buildings uses a cold-formed C-section. The C-section is rolled according to the pitch of the roof to help ensure that the building is weather tight to the eaves.

Rake Angle-
A continuous angle is supplied for the attachment of the sheeting at the rake of the building for simple installation.

Base Angle-
Discount Steel Buildings system uses a continuous angle, supplied for the attachment of the base of the sheeting to the concrete. Base Angle is to be attached to the concrete with ram-jets or equivalent anchors by others.

Bracing-
Flange bracing is standard on all steel building systems to prevent movement of the rafters. Additional bracing, such as" X " bracing, is available if necessary. Contact a Discount Steel Building representative for more information.

Steel Sheeting-
Our buildings use Deeper High-Rib sheeting with more frequent corrugations, for optimum strength. The high-yield roof material helps to prevent damage from hail and other impacts. The sheeting is hot-dipped with Galvalume® coating on each side to help prevent deterioration.

Ridge Cap-
Pre-formed high-rib ridge cap panel matches the slope and profile of adjoining roof panels to help insure constant alignment and weather tightness. Long overlap is provided to help prevent water from siphoning into the building.

Closures-
Discount Steel Buildings uses closed cell neoprene strips that are pre-formed to match the panel configuration. These closure strips may be added to enhance the weather-tightness of your structure.

Fasteners-
Structural bolts meet ATSM standards (A-325 for primary frame connections; A-307 for secondary framing). Self-drilling and self-tapping fasteners are supplied with both wall and roof panels. Roof fasteners come pre-assembled with neoprene washers.

Building Trim and Flashing-
Discount Steel Buildings provides trim at rake (gable) corners and eaves for all buildings for a finished appearance and to keep moisture, insects and dirt out of the building.

Sealants-
Sealant for roof side laps, end laps and flashing at gable is provided to help ensure your building is weather-tight. Nominal 3/8" x 1/8' thick pressure sensitive tape sealant is used for ease of installation.

Building Plans and Drawings Engineer Certified Erection Drawings- Discount Steel Buildings includes wall and roof framing diagrams, cross sections, sheeting and flashing details with all steel building packages. These drawings show clearly the proper erection and assembly of all building components.

Anchor Bolt Setting Plan-
Building reactions for foundation design, Erection Manual and Engineer Letter of Certification are provided after receipt of deposit on building.

Numbered Parts-
A part number is placed on each component (other than sheeting, screws, etc.). These part numbers coincide with a detailed listing contained in the construction drawings and shipping list to help with the easy assembly of the building.
