Finding the Best Company 6/6

September 26th, 2007

To summarize all of the above information is to say this: keep your needs in mind. Remember the ancient Proverb, “A fool and his money are soon parted”? Well, that will certainly come true for you if you just sign a deal with the first building manufacturer you find in the phonebook. You’ll have more peace of mind if you just go through a simple procedure. If you do things right the first time, you won’t have to go back later and correct any embarrassing mistakes.   >>> to be continued

When your pre-fabricated steel building system is brought to the work site, make sure that everything you asked for is included. Mistakes can sometimes happen. A necessary component might have been left at the building supplier or an additional component from another’s order could have been accidentally shipped with your order. Upon taking your steel building double-check to see that all parts down to the last bolt are there and report any errors to the steel building shipping department right away. Don’t be lazy when it comes to inspecting your order to ensure that everything you paid for is there. Cover yourself–your job may be at risk! >>> to be continued

When you order your building from the plant, request that the framed openings will already be pre-cut, pre-welded, and pre-punched prior to its shipment to the construction site. Having this done will save you valuable time in the construction process. The supplier that you choose should also have the capability to design and rig your building with such features as vents and downspouts, as well as adjust the roof pitch according to your needs. For the highest satisfaction, consider every component and feature worthy of your attention. >>> to be continued

When you buy your new building, you should be handed a set of detailed, yet easy-to-understand assembly plans. Do not merely assume that your supplier will give you all the important information you need, such as the gauge of the building. Some suppliers might not, so it’s best not to assume or you will make an ass out of u and me. Will the lifetime roof fasteners be included with the building? See what your supplier is providing with their building kit. If you are spending hundreds of thousands dollars (or even millions) for a new steel building, then it is very reasonable for you to expect the building to be guaranteed by some type of written warranty. If it is not, then you may want to do business elsewhere. Make your new building look as great as it can be. Purchase a deluxe trim package along with the kit and you’ll even help extend the years of the building’s life, as well as adorn its look. Keep the communication lines open. If you don’t ask the necessary questions or state your needs, then who will? It’s all up to you.  >>> to be continued

Finding the Best Company 2/6

By simply investigating the manufacturer’s record in how fairly they deal with customers is perhaps one of the simplest ways to decide if you want to deal with a particular company. The Better Business Bureau (B.B.B.) can present you with facts on the background of a particular company, such as how long they have been in business and whether or not they have been any egregious complaints against the company. If the company is not a member of the B.B.B., then check with local city or state officials, such as the secretary of state. Do business with a company that is nationally well-known. Such a company is certain not to be a fly-by-night company; and, therefore, more accountable for their business practices. Put all your worries to rest by evaluating other steel buildings this company has provided to others. Also, ask the important questions: Do they warranty their buildings? Do they provide a project manager on site? What have other businesses who have bought from them said about their service and product? Leave no stone unturned, or at least, no question unasked. Don’t deal with companies that aren’t willing to provide for you a detailed invoice of your shipment. Know better with whom you are working before you make a deal.

In recent decades, an increasing number of businesses are deciding to build a new building in order to better meet the needs of their company. The construction of a new building is not accomplished with conventional methods, such as wood or brick, but is done with steel. A business certainly wants to avoid wasting time and money in the building of its new facility. Therefore, if you are thinking about purchasing a steel building in the near future from a particular steel building supplier or manufacturer, then here is news you can use. This article will, hopefully, help you decide if the manufacturer you are considering purchasing from can supply you with a steel building system that will satisfy all of your company’s needs.

Lastly, don’t just assume that the company that sells you the building will erect it for you. Not every company that sells buildings will be involved in the erection process. In fact, many do not. Therefore, the onus is all on you to line up an erector long in advance so that you can begin construction when you are ready and not according to the schedule of a last-minute scheduled erector. Most building erectors and contractors are booked up for weeks or even months during certain times of the year when construction is extremely busy. Most engineering experts will agree. Building with steel produces the best architecturally sound structure possible. You get what you pay for, so why settle for less than the very best? Build it with steel; but just verify that you plan its delivery far enough in advance so that the dealer/supplier may accommodate your schedule and needs.

Some customers choose to have their new building trucked in to the place of construction before the beginning of the erection process. In order to protect all the pre-engineered pieces from dust contamination, the customer should check and double-check to see that adequate covering is in place over the pre-engineered framing pieces. Primer and protective coatings are already on the pre-engineered parts when they arrive at the job site. This protective coating does not make the steel framing pieces 100% impervious to the weather, however, even if the building parts will be sitting at the construction site for only a short period of time.  >>>to be concluded
